Does the Wellness Scan replace the annual
physical?
While the annual physical is still very important,
the Wellness Scan's early detection capability can
uncover many asymptomatic and
often life-threatening diseases, not detectable by
physical exam or standard screening tests. This
allows for the management of disease in
early stages, where medical therapy and treatment
options are typically less costly, less invasive and more
effective. Back to

What does the procedure involve?
You will be asked not to drink caffeine products
for four hours prior to your scheduled exam. Drink
clear liquids in moderation and remember to take
all of your usual medication. Upon your arrival
at the center you will be asked to complete a brief
risk factor questionnaire. Because buckles and
zippers may interfere with the
scan, you may be asked to change into a gown. Next,
you lie down on the imaging table while the CT
technologist places a few EKG leads on you.You
are then asked to hold your breath while the
images are taken. The scan will take about 17 seconds
to complete.

When will I get my results?
Once your Wellness Scan is complete, a Board Certified
Radiologist will review the scan with you, noting
any problems that may require further evaluation.
A written report will be mailed to you within 48
hours of your exam. Along with your written report
you will receive a CD containing all of your Wellness
Scan images. This CD can be placed in a computer
to review your images personally or with your physician.
Your scan is stored electronically in our data base
to assess your current health and track it into
the future. The scan can be sent to your personal
physician or a specialist for additional evaluation
and treatment, at your request.
